Mission
The weekly convocation series is a shared campus experience that brings students, faculty, and staff together for a lecture or presentation from specialists in a variety of disciplines. The goal of the convocation series is to stimulate thought and conversation on a wide range of subjects.
The committee reviews convocation suggestions from students, faculty, and staff.
Membership
Faculty: Two faculty members serve this committee. Each are appointed by the Faculty Affairs Committee to serve a two-year term.
Staff: The Director of Intercultural and International Life, Associate Vice President for External Relations, and the Director of College Events represent staff on this committee. Each serves in an ex officio capacity.
Students: Two student-at-large members serve this committee. Each are appointed by the Carleton Student Association each spring to serve during the upcoming academic year.
Committee Work
The committee, chaired and convened by the Director of Intercultural and International Life, meets once per term to discuss the list of potential convocation presenters, based on suggestions from the campus community. To submit a recommendation for a potential speaker please complete the suggestion form.
The Director of College Events shares the list of speakers with the campus community at the beginning of each term. The names are also published on the campus calendar of events.
