The Carleton UJHS is looking for high-quality papers that present serious research with fresh points of view in the humanities and social sciences. Submissions of creative or opinion writing will not be accepted.

Students from any academic institution, including those who have graduated within the past year, may submit papers. Students must choose only ONE paper they would like to submit for the upcoming issue. While there is no page limit, there is a maximum suggested length of thirty pages. Authors of papers chosen for publication must be willing to revise their writing, and will work with UJHS editors to do so.

The UJHS will only accept submissions of unpublished writing. If a paper has been submitted to another publication, it is the author’s responsibility to let the UJHS board know if their piece is selected.

Submissions must be in Microsoft Word form. Documents should be paginated, double-spaced, have one-inch margins, and be written in Times New Roman 12 pt. font. Please format your submission according to the Chicago Manual of Style guidelines (footnotes).

Papers submitted prior to midnight on October 7th, 2019 will be considered for publication in our Winter 2019 issue. Papers submitted after this deadline will be considered for publication in our Spring 2020 issue.
